The Photography Show presented by AIPAD is excited to announce that the next edition of the fair will take place April 28-May 2, 2027, at the Park Avenue Armory. The Photography Show showcases exceptional presentations by members of the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD), along with guest exhibitors and galleries new to the fair.
The 2027 edition of The Photography Show will take place 200 years after the French inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce created the world's first photograph by dissolving bitumen in oil of lavender and then coating a pewter plate with the solution. After inserting the plate into a camera obscura, Niépce placed the device by his window where it sat for several hours-possibly even days -before the faint, ghostly image of his courtyard appeared.
Through persistence, experiment, and historical circumstance, a new technological and artistic method for interpreting the world was born, and this sense of boundless, ever-evolving possibility is what remains with us today. It is this spirit of creative invention and social relevance that The Photography Show will bring to the fair as it continues to welcome historical masterworks alongside forms of contemporary ambition that push our understanding of photography into new terrain. As consensus around what images mean and how they should be made continues to change dramatically and with a whiplash effect, The Photography Show aims to spotlight work that can help us understand the times we live in.
