aligrace, the reworked-vintage denim label known for transforming individual vintage Levi's into elevated, made-to-fit silhouettes, announces its first-ever collaboration: a four-piece capsule co-created with top beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content creator Tatyana Lafata.
The collection marks aligrace's first time inviting an outside collaborator into its design process. Tatyana Lafata has been a longtime champion of the brand, supporting aligrace since the early days of its signature reworked designs. For Founder Ali Grace, the collaboration was a no-brainer, and she could think of no better person to work with.
"Tatyana was supporting aligrace before there was ever a partnership, a contract, or a collection involved," said Ali Grace, founder of aligrace. "She’s been wearing aligrace long before we ever talked about working together, and that kind of loyalty is what any founder dreams about when they start a brand. When I thought about who to work with, I wanted someone who genuinely connected with the brand, felt authentic online, and represented the confidence we want our customers to feel when they wear aligrace, and so naturally Tatyana was my first choice."
The campaign was photographed at Studio 228 in Venice, California, chosen to evoke the feeling of stepping into a curated vintage boutique. The visual direction draws on a late-1990s and early-2000s New York sensibility, blending vintage pieces with polished styling for an elevated, editorial finish.
"About three years ago I was so over never finding jeans that properly fit me, and that's how I came across aligrace," said Lafata. "I'll never forget ordering my first pair of baggy jeans from them and feeling like 'finally,' a pair that fits the way I've been looking for. Once I felt the quality and dedication from Ali and the team, I never bought another pair of jeans if they weren't custom from her, so this felt beyond authentic to develop a collection together."
The design process began with an open-ended exchange of inspiration and silhouettes between aligrace and Lafata, eventually narrowing down to four core bottoms. Lafata tried on samples and shared fit feedback throughout, while the aligrace team led the technical design, pattern engineering, and construction, a process made especially hands-on by the brand's practice of rebuilding each piece from an individual vintage Levi's garment rather than uniform new fabric.
Together they crafted a four-style collection centered around fits that speak to both parties’ denim non-negotiables:
With the exception of the Louisa Jean, every style in the collection features aligrace's signature manufactured low-waist construction, in which the brand physically lowers and rebuilds each garment's original waistline before recalibrating its measurements and proportions.
The aligrace x Tatyana Lafata collection will be available exclusively online, beginning August 10th. Due to every aligrace piece being reconstructed from an individual vintage Levi's garment, wash and character will vary slightly from pair to pair.
