Leon Bridges Performs Surprise Set Aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

Guests aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, a Belmond Train in Europe, were treated to an extraordinary surprise as Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and musician Leon Bridges delivered an intimate live performance in the train's iconic Bar Car '3674'. The surprise appearance adds to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express’ legacy of creating unforgettable cultural moments and establishing the train as a stage for internationally renowned artists.

What began as an elegant journey from Venice to Amsterdam evolved into a key cultural moment onboard. Amid Art Deco grandeur, expertly crafted cocktails, and Europe’s ever-changing landscapes, guests immersed themselves in the experience, unaware of what was to come. Having been invited to travel on the train, Leon Bridges surprised guests onboard with an intimate and exclusive set. Offering a first glimpse of music from his forthcoming album, Happiness Anytime, he showcased the signature fusion of retro soul, R&B, and Americana that has defined his sound. Leon Bridges comments: “Happiness Anytime was created with spontaneous joy as a guiding principle in the studio, asking listeners to find moments of light in the mundane aspects of daily existence. It's an album meant to help us reset.”

This sense of wonder is increasingly woven into the fabric of life aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express - most notably in L'Observatoire, the world’s most luxurious train suite, designed in collaboration with world-acclaimed artist JR. Conceived as an immersive voyage of curiosity and imagination, the carriage reveals hidden details and secret spaces, including a concealed tearoom waiting to be discovered. Much like Leon Bridges' surprise appearance, these moments invite guests to look beyond the expected, celebrating discovery as an essential part of the journey. Together, they reflect Belmond's enduring vision to create unforgettable experiences where luxury, culture and the spirit of surprise converge in the most extraordinary ways. Pascal Deyrolle, Area Managing Director, Trains, Continental Europe comments: "The iconic Bar Car ‘3674’, the social heart of Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, is the perfect setting for intimate live performances, reflecting our ambition to establish the train as a destination for cultural experiences, private celebrations and exclusive group occasions. These moments onboard transform the journey into something truly unexpected; we look forward to continuing to surprise and delight our guests, and we are excited to bring more extraordinary musical moments in the years to come.”
