Perroquet Hotel, Fort Lauderdale’s New Ultra-Stylish and Accessible Motel

Fort Lauderdale’s new hidden gem, Perroquet Hotel, is where a former 1950s motel has been transformed into a boutique hotel with sophisticated design. Tucked along the residential Harbor Drive, between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean beachfront, the Perroquet is a new kind of Florida hotel — design-led, intimate, and unintrusive. A sunlit escape shaped by a sense of place, grounded in warmth, and tuned to the unhurried pace of Fort Lauderdale. This is boutique hospitality distilled into a residential feeling. Hoteliers Clifford and Matthew of The Lane Organization have restored a former 1950s motel with charm and soul, enlisting Belgian architect Bernard Dubois to reimagine it through a romantic European lens, filtering the mood of mid-century America through a cinematic gaze. Historic authenticity met with every modern need. The kind of address shared between friends.

Design - A sunlit retreat shaped by design

Conceived with quiet intention and room to breathe, every space reflects a commitment to materiality, proportion, and light. The palette — off-white, dark green, terracotta — recalls the sun-lit leisure and ease of a country tennis club. In the public areas, calm geometry unfolds beneath a sweeping canopy of palms. The garden brings stillness; the pool, its oasis. Together, architecture and landscape create a serene open-air rhythm that soothes all the senses.

Along with architect Bernard Dubois, the property has been shaped by a visionary creative team: creative direction by Pierre-Alexis Guinet in Paris, landscape architecture by Nathan Browning of Island Planning Corporation, and an art program curated by the Paris-based Italian art adviser Valerio Polimeno.

The Rooms

Designed as quiet, architectural sanctuaries, there are 37 rooms across nine categories — each residential yet elevated, with refined details and thoughtful modern comforts. Sculptural furnishings, soft light, and a curated art selection bring quiet luxury into focus. Every piece of furniture is custom designed by Bernard Dubois, in a mix of lacquered wood, chrome, and leather that balances the geometry of Miami Art Deco with the provocation of 1980s and 1990s postmodernism. Warm yet minimal, the rooms are a modern refuge defined by considered calm and design integrity.

Higher categories feature a living area for unwinding, a sleeping area for quiet retreat — defined by openness and textural simplicity. A luminous top-floor suite features the elevated details of a private residence that meet the highest expression of the hotel's philosophy.

Art - A Living Collection

Art is integral to the experience. A curated selection of original works assembled by Valerio Polimeno and Whitney Lane complements the architectural language and evokes a sense of place, tone, and cultural resonance.

Works by the likes of Salvatore Emblema, Giorgio Griffa, Jean Tinguely, Jean Cocteau, Lucio Fontana, Roberto Matta, Alekos Fassianos, and Jeff Koons grace the walls. Every stay offers a singular encounter.

The collection will evolve over time to offer returning guests a renewed perspective on a sense of place and the Perroquet experience.

The Luxury of Simplicity

Perroquet celebrates a relaxed luxury experience expressed not through excess, but thoughtful essentials: Sferra linens, Byredo toiletries, and service that never imposes. Guests arrive on their own terms — check-in is seamless and unhurried, with a warm welcome that's never intrusive. A daily breakfast bar is stocked with fresh pastries, fruit, and drinks and is available for self-service. Deck chairs are on hand to take to the beach.

The Location

Perroquet sits in one of Fort Lauderdale's most walkable enclaves, close to galleries, cafés, and museums — where a broader renaissance of the neighbourhood is taking place. The surrounding streets balance coastal charm with cultural access to architecture, art, and local dining, from the sophisticated contemporary art programme at NSU Art Museum and the rare historic grounds of Bonnet House Museum and Gardens, to the boutique shopping and restaurants of Las Olas Boulevard and the Fort Lauderdale Beachfront Promenade just moments away. The newly renovated Broward Convention Center is just ten minutes away.

The hotel is easily accessible, only 15 minutes from Port Everglades Cruise Terminal and Fort Lauderdale International Airport.
