Barrington Stage Company Announces Casting for "The Zionists: A Family Storm" and "A Chorus Line"

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), under the leadership of Artistic Director Alan Paul and Executive Director Greg Reiner, is pleased to announce complete casting and creative teams for The Zionists: A Family Storm (June 16-July 3) and A Chorus Line (July 15-August 8), playing at the Boyd Quinson Theater.

The Zionists: A Family Storm, a new play by S. Asher Gelman (afterglow) and directed and choreographed by Chloe Treat (Regional: The Zionists at Miami New Drama), is produced in association with Miami New Drama, where it received its critically acclaimed world premiere earlier this year.

In The Zionists, a prominent Jewish family, fractured by the politics and the aftermath of October 7, gathers for a fragile reunion at a luxury Caribbean resort. As a sudden hurricane bears down outside their bungalow, an even fiercer storm erupts within, forcing them to confront old wounds, clashing values, and the ties that may no longer bind them. In this urgent and deeply human World Premiere, The Zionists lays bare how identity, politics, and history can tear families apart – and the struggle to hold them together in an increasingly divided world.

The production features Shira Alon (Film: Through Her Glasses) as Dana, William DeMeritt (Broadway: The Skin of Our Teeth) as Zephyr, Coby Getzug (Broadway: Merrily We Roll Along) as Aaron, Joanna Glushak (Broadway: Les Misérables original cast, Hairspray; BSC: Fiddler on the Roof) as Ruth, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer (Broadway: Hadestown original cast) as Maria, Adam Grupper (Broadway: Pictures from Home, My Fair Lady) as Mitchell, Dani Stoller (Off Broadway: This Much I Know) as Bex, and Greg Weiner (Regional: The Zionists at Miami New Drama) as David.

The creative team includes Adam Koch (scenic design), Anya Klepikov (costume design), Solomon Weisbard (lighting design), Andy Evan Cohen (co-sound design), Salomon Lerner (original music, co-sound design), Amy Rauchwerger (production stage manager), Emily Chavez (assistant stage manager), and Karina Batchelor-Gómez (associate director). Casting is by Geoff Josselson Casting.

The Boyd-Quinson season will next feature a new production of A Chorus Line (July 15-August 8), the legendary Broadway musical that won nine 1976 Tony Awards and the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The greatest of all backstage musicals, A Chorus Line, playing at BSC for the first time in a co-production with Geva Theatre, will be directed by Alan Paul, with choreography by Parker Esse and music direction by Helen Gregory, and is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark LLC.

The cast features Gaby Albo (National Tour: Six), Travante S. Baker (National Tour: Hamilton), Lauren Barkman (Goodspeed: A Chorus Line), Dalton Bertolone (National Tour: The Addams Family), Danny Binstock (Broadway: Breakfast at Tiffany’s), Deanna Cudjoe (Broadway: SMASH!), Alexandra Frohlinger (Broadway: Soul Doctor), Bailey Reese Greemon (National Tour: Funny Girl), Adam Mandala (National Tour: Disney’s Aladdin), Rafa Pepén (National Tour: My Fair Lady), and more.

The creative team includes Riw Rakkulchon (scenic design), Sarafina Bush (costume design), Cory Pattak (lighting design), Ken Travis (co-sound design), Andrew Mark Wilhelm (co-sound design), Jason Brouillard (production stage manager), Nick Nazzaro (associate choreographer), and Cameron Fleck (2nd assistant stage manager).

The season at the Boyd-Quinson Theater will also include Michael Frayn’s door-slamming, sardine-flying, contact lens-losing comedy, Noises Off (August 19-September 6), in a production directed by Gordon Greenberg (Broadway: Holiday Inn, The Heart of Rock and Roll; Off-Broadway: The Baker’s Wife), and  Vanya (October 8-24), Simon Stephens’ one-actor adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, starring BSC Associate Artist Mark H. Dold (BSC: Harry Clarke, Freud’s Last Session, Breaking the Code), and directed by Alan Paul.
