Dunton River Camp Opens for Summer 2026 Season in Southwest Colorado

By Dunton is pleased to announce the reopening of Dunton River Camp for the summer 2026 season. Located in an alpine clearing along the scenic banks of the West Fork of the Dolores River, the camp invites travelers to experience an unparalleled union of backcountry wilderness and refined luxury in the heart of the Colorado Rockies.

Open from June through October, Dunton River Camp features eight spacious canvas tents – four River Tents set mere steps above the water's edge and four Mountain Tents perched among groves of aspen – each appointed with king beds, en-suite bathrooms, six-foot soaking tubs, and wood-burning gas stoves. The restored 19th-century Farmhouse serves as the camp's social heart, housing a gracious dining room, guest salon, and a wraparound deck commanding sweeping views of the San Juan Mountains.

For the 2026 season, the summer activity menu includes:

  • Fly fishing on the West Fork of the Dolores River (rainbow, brown, cutthroat, and brook trout)
  • Guided hikes and technical peak ascents in the San Juan Mountains
  • Horseback riding
  • Mountain biking
  • Rock climbing
  • Stand-up paddleboarding at Trout Lake
  • 4WD tours over Imogene and Black Bear passes
  • A full-day horseback ride through Ancient Puebloan cliff dwellings at Sand Canyon with a wine tasting at Sutcliffe Vineyards.
  • Wellness programming that includes yoga, Pilates, guided breathwork, and sound baths.
