Grand Public Kitchen + Bar Opens at CocoWalk in May 2026

Opening this spring at CocoWalk, Grand Public Kitchen + Bar introduces an electric new destination for everyday elevated dining in Coconut Grove. Created by hospitality veterans Matthew Tsoumaris and Ryan Bassels, the concept blends modern American cuisine with global coastal influences, a high-energy bar program, seamless day-to-night programming, and private events.

Set within a 7,400-square-foot indoor-outdoor space, Grand Public pairs warm, natural design with a lively, social atmosphere that’s equally suited for casual lunches, group dinners, and late-night cocktails. A sculptural wraparound bar sits at the heart of the room, pulling people in and setting the tone between eating and socializing. Around it, curved banquettes, woven rattan, and warm wood finishes carve out intimate corners within a space that still feels open and connected. Tropical greenery winds throughout, dissolving the edge between inside and the lush landscape outside.

Bold and deliberate, the palette moves from hand-painted tiles in deep earth tones to rich greens and graphic patterns that climb the walls and wrap the ceilings. Overhead, layered lighting eases the room from bright and airy to warm and atmospheric as the day winds down. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame treetop views and pull in soft, filtered light during the day. Come evening, the mood shifts entirely, settling into something more intimate and cinematic.

“Grand Public is about creating a place people want to return to,” said Tsoumaris. “We’re excited to introduce a place that blends great food with attentive service. Coconut Grove’s close-knit community made it the ideal home for our concept.”

The kitchen is led by Chef Leo Pablo, whose background includes working alongside Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Michael Mina, and Joël Robuchon. The menu reflects a modern American approach, layered with Mediterranean influence and subtle nods to Tsoumaris’s Greek heritage.

“We want every visit to feel fresh and memorable,” said Pablo. “Our menu is built around top-quality ingredients sourced with care, blending comforting classics with international inspirations. I want to remind people why they love eating and bring that same joy and attention to every table.”

Grand Public’s programming runs from day to night, with daily happy hour from 3-6 p.m., followed by a reverse happy hour after 10 p.m. featuring select $10 offerings. Weekend brunch rounds out the lineup with $25 bottomless mimosas.

Highlights from the menu include a shareable Mediterranean Mezze with hummus, baba ghanoush, muhammara, and laffa bread; Tuna Tataki with ponzu, furikake, and avocado yogurt; and Butter Poached Lobster Cargot in citrus herb butter. Flatbreads range from a Roma Margherita with stracciatella to a Truffle Mushroom with truffle oil. Mains range from a 12oz Rib-Eye, and Meatball Rigatoni to a simply prepared Mediterranean Branzino finished with lemon and olive oil, with desserts like a Triple Choco Cake with ganache and dulce de leche.

Weekend brunch blends indulgent favorites—Wild Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes, the GP Breakfast with eggs any style, and the savory egg dish The Shak with piquillo, feta, and grilled sourdough—with lighter options like avocado toast, açaí bowls, and Greek yogurt with honey. Bottomless mimosas are $25, available in flavors like watermelon, mango, and cucumber alongside the All Hail Caesar made with Grey Goose vodka.

The cocktail program is anchored by the Ferrero Rocher Espresso Martini with Grey Goose vodka, hazelnut syrup, and Café Bustelo, alongside signatures like the Smooth Talker with Angel's Envy bourbon and coffee bitters and the floral Violet Spritz with butterfly pea flower-infused St-Germain and Prosecco.
