Maurisa Turner Potts Honored at 2026 Virginia Black Business Leaders Awards

Maurisa Turner Potts, Founder and CEO of Spotted MP Marketing + Public Relations in Alexandria, has been recognized as part of the 2026 Virginia Black Business Leaders Awards. The annual recognition honors 29 leaders across the Commonwealth for their professional achievements, leadership, community impact, and commitment to mentorship.

With more than 25 years of experience in marketing, communications, and events, Potts leads Spotted MP with a focus on strategic public relations, brand positioning, and integrated communications. The agency specializes in economic development, placemaking, hospitality, tourism, real estate, lifestyle, and nonprofit communications—working to shape communities, elevate mission-driven organizations, and amplify stories that drive measurable impact. Since 2018, Spotted MP has led public relations strategy for Tysons Corner Center, overseeing tourism-focused PR, marketing, and event initiatives for the destination. Additional clients include The Watergate Hotel and the Ballston Business Improvement District.

Earlier in her career, Potts held roles at Reed Smith and the Crystal City Business Improvement District. A graduate of Virginia Tech, she currently serves on the university’s College of Business Marketing Advisory Board.

The recognition is particularly notable as it coincides with Black History Month and Virginia Business magazine’s 100th anniversary year.
