Motive Agency Welcomes Former BMF Executive as SVP of Market & Business Development

Motive, the creative and advertising agency known for building culturally resonant, high-impact brand experiences for clients including DICK’s Sporting Goods, PepsiCo, Burger King, Mtn Dew, Gatorade, and more has appointed Ed Starr as its new SVP of Market and Business Development, where he will focus on the agency’s growth strategy, diversification efforts, and expansion into new categories.

“As we look ahead to 2026, we see continued opportunity to create experience-forward, fully integrated programs that deepen brand connection and have revenue-driving tactics built in,” said Krista Nicholson, President, Motive. “Ed’s approach aligns seamlessly with that vision, and bringing him onto the team positions us to expand our thinking and push into new categories.”

Most recently, Ed served as the Managing Partner of integrated creative marketing agency BMF. Under his leadership, they produced hundreds of programs last year alone, including many international activations across 19 countries. His ethos is rooted in creating award-winning, multi-channel programs that earn attention, inspire cultural participation, and deliver meaningful ROI by humanizing brands in unexpected ways.

Ed’s background positions him to play a significant role in Motive’s continued evolution. While he has deep expertise in brand experience, his track record extends well beyond experiential—shaping integrated campaigns that drive measurable business outcomes. He also brings a robust network of longstanding clients and industry relationships.

“When I first sat down with Matt Statman, his vision for Motive stopped me in my tracks,” said Ed Starr, SVP of Marketing and Business Development. “ Motive is a creative community at the center of culture, and this ethos deeply resonated with me. The more I spoke with Krista Nicholson and the broader team, the clearer it became - this is where I’m meant to be. Joining Motive and being part of the talented group of agencies within Project Worldwide unlocks the expansive, collaborative possibilities I've always dreamed of.”

Throughout his career, Ed has led highly acclaimed initiatives and developed innovative, disruptive programs across all major marketing platforms for clients such as Wilson, Visa, poppi, Lamborghini, and many others. His work is rooted in crafting multi-channel programs that earn attention, inspire cultural participation, and deliver meaningful ROI by humanizing brands in unexpected ways.
