Tuxedo Hospitality Unveils Opera House

Tuxedo Hospitality is pleased to unveil Opera House, a subterranean cocktail bar underneath Chinese Tuxedo in the former Peachy’s space. The address once served as New York City’s first Chinese theater—known as the Chinese Opera House—in the heart of Chinatown on historic Doyers Street.

The 80-seat space is anchored by the amber-lit bar ”The Stage”, framing a hand-painted mural of a traditional Chinese opera scene. Rich walnut-clad interiors are accented with plush carpet, gold trim, and exposed wooden beams. Guests can sidle up to the bar for front-row seats, settle into luxurious leather booths, or pass through sliding moon doors denoting auspicious Chinese characters, opening to an intimate lounge.

Beverage director Beau Bradley (formerly of Cote, Undercote, The Tyger, and Potluck Club) has developed an innovative menu of 12 signature cocktails taking their names from Chinese Operas. The cocktail menu showcases a range of Chinese herbs, teas, and infusions, including salted egg chestnut syrup, doubanjiang agave, black bean cream, and Sichuan peppercorn tinctures. Highlights include theWhite Snake Legend, the house signature Martini with shepherd's purse-infused gin or vodka,chamomile-infused Cocchi Americano, olive brine and a pickled lotus root garnish, and the Dream of the Red Chamber, with five-spice duck fat-washed bourbon, pu-erh tea-infused Campari, and red jujube and goji berry-infused vermouth. Guests can snack on complimentary Mala-Spiced Chickpeas and Lotus Chips, and order from a curated selection of Chinese Tuxedo’s dim sum offering, including their Teacup Scallop & Shrimp Wontons and Braised Black Pepper Oxtail Bun.

With Opera House, restaurateurs Eddy Buckingham and Andrew and Jeff Lam reimagine a relic of Chinatown history as a fresh, distinctly downtown cocktail bar where guests can linger and imbibe late into the night. Open daily from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., with reservations available on Resy and space held for walk-ins.
