After more than a decade, Matt Prince announced that he has departed his role as director of brand communications and PR at Taco Bell to join its sister brand, KFC, as interim head of earned media and brand social.
Prince’s time at Taco Bell spans over a decade of iconic moments that showcase the brand’s legacy and power of its passionate fans, all while moving faster than the speed of culture. He played a pivotal role in saving the original Taco Bell location, moving the entire building from Downey, California, to the brand's headquarters in Irvine just one week before it was set to be demolished. Prince also successfully petitioned the Unicode Consortium to add the taco emoji to keyboards and freed the Taco Tuesday trademark for public use. Through these efforts, his work underscores his commitment to kindness, care, and compassion while always emphasizing how special both the brand and its community truly are.
Prince is eager to showcase these values in his new role. Reflecting on the new position, he shared, “KFC is a brand with an incredible legacy, and I’m honored to play even a small role in its next chapter. My focus is on how we show up in culture in ways that feel fresh, bold and relevant, especially for a new generation. I have no doubt we’ll do just that in a way that only KFC can.”
