Each Friday from September 27, the 100 Wardour St stage, in partnership with Coca-Cola will be ablaze with The Marquee Cabaret, an unbridled Rock & Roll revival, transporting guests back to the site’s roots as The Marquee Club. Before the era of live music dinners, bottomless brunches and irresistible cocktail menus, 100 Wardour St was a hotspot for up and coming rock icons, from Bowie to Jimi Hendrix. The ethos of these early beginnings will be revived next month with a raucous late-night cabaret, brought to life by incredible drag performers, vocalists and musicians in the heart of Soho.
From 1964-1988, The Marquee Club was the Soho heartbeat of Rock & Roll. People flocked in masses to see the biggest and best bands of the age, and to discover new music legends in a period where rock, blues, soul, and heavy metal reigned supreme. This stage is where the Rolling Stones played their first gig in 1962, where Jimi Hendrix played his first major UK gig in 1967, where in 1973 David Bowie played his last ever gig as “Ziggy Stardust” and where Wham! filmed the music video for ‘I’m Your Man’. The Marquee Club staged Guns N Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Sex Pistols, U2, Crown of Thorns, Queen and The Flower Pot and more.
From 10pm each Friday, journey back in time to the vivacious venue that launched the careers of the world’s most iconic bands and artists, as some of London’s best current drag performers, vocalists and entertainers will take to the 100 Wardour Street stage to bring Rock & Roll back to 2024 - right where it all began. The Marquee Cabaret is a sensational culmination of both musical talent, and outrageous antics from 100 Wardour Street’s best performers, who will be sure to bring the floor to their feet week after week, performing the best of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
Not just the stage will be fired up, 100 Wardour St’s restaurant will be serving 3-courses with a glass of bubbles for £49, or 2-courses for £44. Enjoy Rock & Roll with a side of scallop ceviche with coconut and lime tiger’s milk, guacamole and corn chips. Or BBQ lamb cutlets with baba ganoush, garlic & mint sauce, for something heartier. Coca-Cola, as sponsor, also returns as ‘The Marquee Club’s Drink of Choice’. As an unlicensed venue, The Marquee Club sold the most Coca-Cola on London’s West End. A drinks menu with Coca-Cola classics will be available.
60 years on from The Marquee Club, 100 Wardour Street continues to party with the same ethos at heart; providing a haven for live music enthusiasts with its Live Music Dinners, Rhythm n Brunches and epic late night lineups.
