Design Miami

Must-see fairs, exhibitions, and installations

Design Miami

For its 20th anniversary Miami Beach edition, Design Miami returns to Pride Park December 2-7 with a forward-looking program shaped by curatorial director Glenn Adamson. This year’s theme, Make. Believe., explores the space where craftsmanship and imagination meet—spotlighting the designers who push collectible design into new territory.

The fair also debuts Design Miami 2.0, a special project featuring eight contemporary voices rethinking the boundaries of form and material. Presented in partnership with Bank of America Private Bank, the milestone edition marks both a celebration of two decades and the beginning of the fair’s next chapter.

Art Basel Miami Beach

Art Basel Miami Beach returns December 3-7 with leading galleries from five continents presenting significant works from Modern masters to today’s emerging voices. This year, the fair introduces Zero 10, a new curated section devoted to art of the digital era. The program highlights how technology is shaping contemporary practice, featuring presentations that span generative systems, algorithmic and robotic works, immersive digital environments, and AI-driven art.

THE OPEN INVITATIONAL

THE OPEN INVITATIONAL is a new art fair focused on progressive art studios that support artists with mental and physical disabilities, aiming to advance their careers and challenge traditional hierarchies in the contemporary art world. Founded by gallerist David Fierman and arts patron Ross McCalla, the fair centers openness as its guiding principle—expanding visibility for studio programs and introducing their work to collectors and institutions. After debuting in the Miami Design District in 2024, the fair returns December 2–5 with more than 15 studios from across the country. Recent expansions include its first New York edition and a forthcoming collaboration with Creativity Explored in San Francisco in January 2026.

Exhibitions at Nina Johnson Gallery

Nina Johnson Gallery marks Miami Art Week with a compelling lineup of exhibitions. Curated by Jarrett Earnest, Acid Bath House brings together an eclectic mix of artists whose vibrant, boundary-blurring pieces create a richly layered, communal experience. Upstairs, Dara Friedman’s Star People extends her exploration of light, movement, and emotional resonance through a constellation of sculptural and photographic works. In the Gallery Courtyard, Emmett Moore’s Neon Sun transforms the outdoor space with refined, design-driven pieces, rounding out a program that highlights the diverse practices shaping the gallery’s vision this year.

The Craig Robins Collection: Walking on Air

Jana Euler: Morecorn 4 | Acrylic on canvas. 2021

The Craig Robins Collection unveils its 2025–2026 rehang, “Walking on Air,” an exhibition centered on the material and spatial explorations of Richard Tuttle. Spanning works from the mid-1960s to today, the presentation places Tuttle’s sculptural approach in dialogue with artists including David Hammons, John Baldessari, and Marcel Duchamp. Contemporary voices such as Jana Euler, Sasha Gordon, Xinyi Cheng, and Mario Ayala also appear, along with recent acquisitions by Lauren Halsey, Sam McKinnis, and Jill Mulleady. Installed at Dacra’s Miami Design District headquarters, the exhibition traces thoughtful connections across conceptual and figurative practices.

Jeffrey Deitch: That Was Then, This Is Now

Jeffrey Deitch presents That Was Then, This Is Now, a new exhibition organized by American Art Projects. Featuring a group of 25 artists, the show surveys some of the most resonant directions in contemporary art, uniting practices that merge historical references with fresh visual vocabularies. Drawing inspiration from sources as varied as Pop Art, Hollywood, the internet, commercial culture, and spiritual traditions, the artists work across painting, sculpture, digital collage, fashion, and more.

Two large-scale friezes, arranged in a Penrose-inspired pattern, merge geometric structure with sculptural coral forms cast from nearly a decade of the artist’s 3D scans.
