Trendspotting: Annual Report Unveils the Year's Predictions Across Food, Hospitality & Lifestyle

At the beginning of every year, San Francisco-based boutique lifestyle agency Cinch PR curates a meticulously-researched trend report to share with clients and close contacts. The report, which includes predictions for the coming year across categories including food and beverage, hospitality, wine, lifestyle and CPG, is developed via insights gleaned from trusted news sources and key industry publications as well as the team's own research and knowledge from working so closely with brands and media in these industries. These trends are leveraged in annual client planning, for creative programming ideation, and in ongoing pitching throughout the year.

Here's a peek at a few of the trends the Cinch team is predicting for 2024.

The Jay

Staying Local

Post-pandemic travel is out and staying local is in. With the cost of international travel impacted by inflation, many travelers are opting to explore destinations closer to home. Whether that's a staycation at a new hotel in their city (we love the newly-opened Jay in SF) or quick road trip for a quiet weekend in the country (the Fess Parker Inn in Los Olivos fits the bill), domestic travel is on the rise, particularly among the budget-conscious Millennial and Gen Z markets.

Functional Food & Beverage

You are what you eat! Sodas toting prebiotic benefits, funghi-based supplements that support the immune system (like Traditional Medicinals' Reishi Mushroom Tea) and fermented foods that support gut health are swarming the marketplace as consumers prioritize food and beverages that enhance well-being - while also tasting good.

Treat Yourself Culture:

Made popular on TikTok, “little treat culture” reinforces buying something like an expensive coffee or clothing item you’ve been eyeing for getting through tasks like running errands or just because you feel like it. Some of our favorite "little treats" of late include a personal-size wheel of Petit Brie from Marin French Cheese, a can of buttery chardonnay, or a scoop of artisan ice cream
