About W Communications

W North America is an extension of W Communications’ growing global footprint. Headquartered in New York, W offers full-service integrated communications across North America, serving as the expert on-the-ground network for brands looking to build cultural relevance and driving commercial impact. We bring our flair as one of the UK’s most decorated agencies to American shores on behalf of a bold slate of consumer, hospitality, lifestyle, and culture clients.  W is independently owned, free-thinking, and driven by a single core belief: communication is an integral engine of 21st-century brands - not just marketing veneer. Every client deserves an approach as distinct, disruptive, and agile as they are.

Role Overview

Senior Account Executives (SAE) are the media relations powerhouses and project execution leads of our account teams. Possessing deep industry knowledge, a strong network of journalist and creator contacts, and sharp strategic instincts, SAEs drive campaign narrative execution, write high-level press collaterals, and lead key workstreams on client accounts. At this level, you are transitioning from pure execution into campaign strategy, client-facing ownership, and junior team mentorship.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations

Media Relations & Creator Engagement

  • Targeted Pitching & Placement: Consistently pitch and secure high-impact editorial coverage across top-tier consumer print, top-tier digital, broadcast, and key podcast/newsletter formats.
  • Media Network: Maintain and actively grow an established network of top-tier editors, writers, and digital content creators across consumer, lifestyle, culture, and hospitality verticals.
  • Trend & Newsjacking: Lead daily media tracking, proactively spotting cultural trends, breaking news, and emerging topics to draft real-time pitch angles for clients.
  • Social & Creator Platforms: Maintain a deep understanding of current digital ecosystem trends across TikTok, Instagram, Substack, YouTube, and X, leveraging creator partnerships to amplify media campaigns.

Client & Campaign Management

  • Workstream Ownership: Lead day-to-day execution on specific account workstreams, ensuring campaign KPIs, launch timelines, and media targets are met or exceeded.
  • Client Communications: Build direct, trusted relationships with day-to-day client contacts; lead status calls, agendas, and presentations under Account Manager/Director oversight.
  • Written Excellence: Draft high-level strategic press releases, PR proposals, briefing books, pitch angles, and client messaging frameworks with minimal oversight required.
  • Event & Activation Lead: Manage the execution and logistics for media dinners, product launch events, press trips, and cultural activations, taking ownership of vendor coordination and guest lists.

Strategy & New Business

  • Tactical Strategy: Translate high-level client strategies into creative tactical rollouts; adapt and pivot pitch angles based on real-time media response and performance data.
  • Proposal Development: Support PR proposal building, creative brainstorms, and strategy deck development for existing client expansions and new business RFPs.
  • New Business Research: Support pitch teams by conducting competitive market audits, media landscapes, and drafting pitch deck slides.
