About the Job:

Under our Lifestyle umbrella, the Account Manager, Home + Design will manage day-to-day public relations efforts for a roster of some of today's most exciting consumer brands in home furnishings, interior design, architecture, and product PR. This candidate should have an expressed interest in the aforementioned topics, as well as in the business and culture that surrounds them.

While based in NYC, this position does require some travel to support our clients for events like high-priority media interviews and photoshoots, store openings, trade shows with heavy media attendance, media events, and more.

Position Reports to:

Director of Lifestyle & Vice President of Lifestyle

Core Responsibilities:

  • Media Expertise *core emphasis
  • Pitching and securing product placements, product feature stories, brand features, etc., on national and regional levels, across online, print, broadcast, and podcast media
  • Communicating daily with editors/media and continuing to build strong relationships with key editors in business, home, decor, design, lifestyle, and more
  • Regular media entertaining (coffees, lunches, etc.)
  • Initiating new, creative pitches and brand-building opportunities (ex. Media event ideation, creative mailer ideation, etc.)
  • Drafting of press releases, media alerts, client interview prep docs

Client & Account Management

  • Managing day-to-day account operations with a high level of organization including press hits, call agendas, interview updates, etc. (with support of junior staff)
  • Updating all client materials and other written materials daily 
  • Spearhead client reporting for Director approvals
  • Supporting strategic planning including bi-annual PR plans, pitch calendars, etc.

Team Management & Development 

  • Mentoring 1-2 junior staff
  • Ensuring the junior team maintains client operations (including sending all press clippings as they publish or print, on-time agendas, etc.) 
  • Suggesting new initiatives for team building and keeping a positive work environment
  • Participating in JBC committees (DEI, party-planning, intern committee, sustainability committee, AI committee, etc.)

AI Utilization

  • Expectation to leverage approved AI tools to streamline research and administrative workflows, improving the speed and consistency of daily tasks while strictly adhering to agency data-privacy protocols
  • Responsibility to ensure every AI-generated draft undergoes thorough human fact-checking
REQUIREMENTS:

Ideal Profile

  • Someone who truly wants to build a career in home & interiors PR, excited about the PR industry, actively reading/listening to podcasts about the home industry and marketing field
  • Naturally proactive
  • Outstanding attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills 
  • Skilled writer and communicator
  • Ability to balance many priorities and act resourcefully, all while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Highly professional, a people person, skilled at building and nurturing relationships

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 3+ years of relevant PR account work experience
  • Portfolio of earned media press placements for home brands, interior designers, etc.
  • A growing editorial network of relevant industry editors and writers
  • Proven experience in supportive team management
