Position Reports to:

  • Team Lead/JBC Intern Committee

Position Overview:

Interns execute day-to-day public relations tasks as assigned by managers and coordinators. The role works cross-divisionally and assists with tasks across JBC’s Food & Beverage, Design & Interiors, Fashion, Beauty, Impact, and Wellness teams. Everyday tasks include brainstorming creative pitch angles, building and maintaining media lists, administrative account tasks, and more. The unique fellowship role is designed to give eager PR candidates hands-on experience in an agency setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive media lists.
  • Brainstorming new, creative pitches and brand-building opportunities for clients.
  • Tracking media placements for clients.
  • Assist the team with trend forecasting, competitor media audits, and press hit clips.
  • Support on-site tasks, including media events and editorial sample send-outs.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, MuckRack, and Google Workspace is a plus.
  • Final individual presentation based on a brand of your choosing.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Interns are required to be in person at JBC’s NYC office on designated in-office days.
  • Must be available 2.5 days a week between Mondays and Fridays (JBC will assign a weekly schedule based on candidate availability + division needs).
  • The schedule will be comprised of 2 full days and 1 ½ day:
    • Full-day hours: 9 AM EST - 5 PM EST
    • Half-day hours: 9 AM - 2 PM EST

About You:

  • A rising college senior or post-graduate individual looking to kickstart a career in the PR industry.
  • Enthusiastic about all things PR and media relations.
  • Naturally proactive, with outstanding attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills.
  • A people person, skilled at building and nurturing relationships, with proven experience in supportive team management.
  • Ability to both balance many priorities and act resourcefully, all while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Vaccination against COVID-19 is a requirement if hired. Candidates may request an accommodation due to disability, sincerely held religious belief, or an exception required under applicable law.

Time Commitment:

  • Overall program duration is based on the semester length.
  • Minimum of 2.5 days per week at max 19.5 hours without any class interruption. Hours listed above; schedules will be customized based on individual division schedules.
  • Start date: Late August.

Benefits:

  • Hourly pay - $17.00/hour
  • 1-hour lunch breaks (½ days = 30-minute lunch breaks).
  • Use of a company computer.
  • Monthly stipend toward commuter expenses.
