BACKGROUND

An established Los Angeles-based Communications and Public Relations firm seeks a dynamic Senior Account Manager to work on home, interior design, and architecture clients. The firm is seeking a talented and ambitious Senior Account Manager with four to six years of experience to lead key client accounts and play a central role in managing the firm’s growing roster. The ideal candidate brings a self-starter mindset, strong strategic instincts, and a genuine interest in design, interiors, and architecture. The position is based in LA.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Account Manager plays a key role in leading day-to-day management of client accounts, serving as a primary point of contact and driving the execution of strategic communications programs. Working closely with the Vice President and Partner, this role oversees Account Coordinators and ensures seamless delivery across all aspects of account work. Responsibilities include:

Client Engagement

  • Assist the VP/Partner in maintaining strong relationships with clients, serving as a secondary point of contact.
  • Lead regular client communications, including status updates, strategic guidance, and issue resolution.
  • Develop, drive and maintain PR strategies and plans, ensuring alignment with client goals and broader business objectives.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for visibility, partnerships, and growth across the design and lifestyle landscape, including books, collaborations, and business development initiatives.

Project Management

  • Oversee and drive day-to-day PR activities and deliverables, ensuring work is executed efficiently, on time, and within budget.
  • Lead the development and execution of PR campaigns and client strategies, including media outreach and event initiatives.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets, proactively identifying risks and implementing solutions to keep programs on track.

Media Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media across the interior design, architecture, trade, and lifestyle landscape.
  • Lead the development of press materials, including press releases, pitches, and strategic messaging, ensuring clarity and impact.
  • Drive media outreach to secure meaningful coverage across top-tier national, regional, and trade outlets.
  • Represent the firm and its clients at industry events, cultivating relationships and identifying opportunities for visibility.

Team Collaboration

  • Lead coordination across team members to ensure seamless execution of client work.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align PR efforts with broader marketing and brand strategies.
  • Mentor and manage Account Coordinators, overseeing workload, quality of work, and day-to-day performance.
  • Set clear expectations and maintain high standards across all deliverables to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Liaise with the social media team to align content with PR strategy and maximize visibility across channels.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Oversee the tracking and analysis of performance metrics, ensuring accurate and insightful reporting for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Translate data into actionable insights to identify opportunities to optimize performance and refine ongoing campaigns.
  • Lead regular client reporting and status updates, providing a clear, strategic perspective on results and next steps.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in public relations, either agency or in-house, with a strong track record of securing meaningful media placements and contributing to feature coverage.
  • Established relationships with key media across design, architecture, and lifestyle, including top-tier, regional, and trade outlets.
  • Strong strategic thinking and editorial instincts, with the ability to identify compelling angles and opportunities for coverage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in client-facing situations and relationship management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior team members.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Monday.com, Cision, Muck Rack, Google Workspace, and relevant social media platforms.
