TCPR is seeking a Senior Director with a minimum of eight years of experience to join the New York team. This senior, client-facing role oversees day-to-day account strategy and execution across a portfolio of clients in the home & design space, translating high-level strategy into action while mentoring teams and ensuring consistent delivery against client objectives. Senior Directors report into the Senior Vice President and/or Vice President and serve as a key bridge between high-level strategy and execution.

Role and Responsibilities 

Client Leadership and Strategic Oversight

  • Lead day-to-day client relationships, serving as a trusted senior point of contact and strategic partner.
  • Translate overarching communications strategy into clear, actionable plans across multiple accounts and workstreams.
  • Guide messaging, storytelling, and campaign development to ensure alignment with client positioning, priorities, and long-term goals.
  • Oversee execution across accounts, ensuring programs are delivered thoughtfully, on time, and within the agreed-upon scope.
  • Monitor account progress and performance, proactively identifying risks, opportunities, or shifts and escalating to SVP/VP as appropriate.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Manage and mentor account teams, providing strategic direction, feedback, and support to ensure strong execution and professional growth.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively across teams, guiding execution and maintaining oversight to ensure accountability, follow-through, and efficiency.
  • Support onboarding, development, and performance management of junior and mid-level team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture rooted in clear communication, consistency, and shared success.

Media Relations and Thought Leadership

  • Oversee media relations strategy and approach across assigned accounts, guiding teams on narrative development, pitch angles, and timing.
  • Leverage established relationships with editors and media contacts across print, digital, and broadcast outlets.
  • Step in directly on priority placements, sensitive narratives, or high-stakes opportunities as needed.
  • Review and elevate press materials and client-facing deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and strategic alignment.

Influencer, Trade and Industry Engagement

  • Oversee influencer, designer, and trade engagement strategies across accounts to support broader communications goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance on partnerships, activations, and campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and storytelling.
  • Support teams in identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing influencer, trade, and partnership opportunities.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with designers, design firms, and key industry tastemakers relevant to client work.

Events and Visibility

  • Guide event strategies that support client objectives across consumer and trade audiences.
  • Provide oversight and direction on event planning, messaging, format, and guest strategy.
  • Represent clients and the agency at select industry events, launches, and key moments as appropriate.

Collaboration and Agency

  • Support Partner closely with SVP/VP on account planning, prioritization, and client communications.
  • Support new business initiatives through strategic input, pitch preparation, and participation in select meetings.
  • Serve as a senior ambassador for TCPR, contributing to the agency’s reputation through strong client work and industry relationships.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • B.S./B.A. in Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of eight years of relevant PR agency experience, ideally within design, lifestyle, luxury, and adjacent industries.
  • Strong, established relationships across consumer, trade, and business media, including national and regional print and digital outlets.
  • Established relationships with designers, design firms, and key industry tastemakers within the home and design space.
  • Proven ability to independently lead client accounts and execute communications strategies.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior team members.
  • Demonstrated success in securing meaningful media coverage across print, digital, and broadcast platforms.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Passion for the design industry and cultural landscape.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with PR databases and tools such as MuckRack and PR Newswire/Businesswire.
