The Role 

The Vice President of Public Relations has 10+ years of agency or a mix of agency/in-house experience with demonstrated expertise in sports marketing. This role will oversee the strategic direction and client management for several major brands activating around milestone moments in sports and culture in 2026, leading integrated PR and communications strategies that span traditional media relations, influencer partnerships, and digital communications.

This role sits at the intersection of brand storytelling, earned media strategy, influencer relations, and client partnership management. You will be a trusted advisor, a strategic communications leader, and someone who understands how to leverage PR and influencer marketing to drive measurable business outcomes in the sports and CPG sectors.

This individual will be critical in building and maintaining successful relationships with clients, demonstrating a strong grasp of communications best practices and the evolving media landscape. A key marker of success in this role is to be a forward-thinking, active team leader focused on creative storytelling and delivering innovative, high-impact PR campaigns.

This role will also lead Integrated Agency Team (IAT) work sessions, ensuring seamless collaboration to deliver holistic, integrated, and impactful marketing campaigns for clients. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Management: Serving as one of the senior leads across several major brands for a global CPG brand activating around a milestone moment in sports and culture in 2026 - ensuring strategic alignment, proactive counsel, and exceptional client service that drives retention and growth. 
  • PR Strategy & Execution: Developing and executing comprehensive public relations strategies that build brand awareness, manage reputation, and drive earned media coverage across traditional, digital, and social platforms.
  • Media Relations: Cultivating and maintaining relationships with top-tier media contacts across sports, lifestyle, business, and CPG trade publications. Securing high-impact placements that align with client objectives and KPIs.
  • Integrated Agency Team (IAT) Leadership: Facilitating and leading multiple IAT work sessions that bring together cross-functional agency partners (creative, social, sponsorship, experiential, etc.) to develop integrated campaign strategies and ensure seamless execution.
  • Crisis Communications & Issues Management: Providing strategic counsel and rapid response during sensitive situations, protecting client reputation while maintaining transparent stakeholder communications. 
  • Content Strategy & Storytelling: Overseeing the development of compelling narratives, press materials, thought leadership content, and owned media that position clients as category leaders and cultural innovators.
  • Campaign Measurement & Reporting: Establishing KPIs, tracking campaign performance using media monitoring tools and analytics platforms, and delivering insights-driven reporting that demonstrates PR's impact on business objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Supervising, mentoring, and developing team members across account levels, fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and continuous learning. 
  • Collaboration: Working closely with other partners, including creative, social media, sponsorship activation, and content production teams to deliver seamless integrated campaigns.
  • New Business Development: Contributing to pitch development, credentials presentations, and RFP responses. Identifying and cultivating new business opportunities within existing and prospective client relationships.
  • Budget Management: Managing project budgets and resources, ensuring campaigns are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while maximizing ROI.

  • Build and leverage your media and influencer network to open doors for clients and create competitive advantages.
  • Identifying and bringing in potential new business leads and opportunities that expand the agency's PR and influencer capabilities.

Compensation Overview

  • Based on years, location, and breadth of experience, the annual salary ranges from $130-145k.
  • 401K Match up to 4.5% Employer Match
  • Employer Covers 80% of Medical and Dental Cigna Coverage (however, please note this is subject to change YOY)
  • Responsible Unlimited Paid Time Off Policy as of Jan 1, 2026
  • $250 Annual Reimbursement towards Professional Development

Location

  • New York (Flatiron), 3 days a week in the office, 2 days remote.
