Square and Cash App joined forces to provide the culinary collective known as Ghetto Gastro with their own pop-up restaurant for one night. The Bronx natives, composed of Jon Gray, Pierre Serrao, and Lester Walker, are best known for blending influences from the African diaspora, global South ingredients, and hip-hop to create offerings that address race, identity, and economic empowerment. Inspired by their forthcoming cookbook, Black Power Kitchen, Ghetto Gastro took over a former downtown hotspot. The nostalgic space, which is not yet open to the public, is set to reopen this Fall as Jean’s led by CGM Hospitality Group.
