Enrique Olvera and the Cosme team hosted Between Two Worlds, a Día de Muertos Masquerade Ball, presented by American Express and Resy, bringing together New York City's culinary, creative, and cultural communities for an evening celebrating Mexican heritage, tradition, and the spirit of Día de Muertos.
Guests gathered at Cosme, located at 35 E 21st Street in New York City, donning elaborate masks, marigold crowns, dramatic veils, and fashion-forward ensembles inspired by Día de Muertos. Upon arrival, guests were greeted by cascading marigold garlands before making their way through the space, which had been transformed with an elaborate ofrenda adorned with flowers and candelabras.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a traditional Mexican dance performance alongside an array of bites from Olvera, including a carving station in the kitchen serving the restaurant’s beloved duck carnitas and Angus skirt steak, accompanied by fresh tortillas and house-made salsas.
Guests also enjoyed specialty cocktails, including a Concord grape margarita, alongside tastings from Manojo Mezcal and Dobel Tequila, both paired with Petrossian caviar bumps.
DJs Adrian Garcia and Henrry set the tone for the evening with a mix of golden-era Mexican sounds, while DJ Hellotones took over as the celebration continued into the early morning hours, keeping the dance floor alive alongside late-night bites and festivities.
The celebration welcomed guests such as Padma Lakshmi alongside friends of Cosme and members of New York City’s hospitality and creative communities.
The evening celebrated Cosme’s deep connection to Mexican culture and its ongoing commitment to bringing people together through food. Amidst the many celebrations throughout the evening, Enrique Olvera also took a moment to announce the upcoming November 10 opening of Bar Cosme, the restaurant’s new sister concept in NoHo.
