Lalique, the iconic French crystal maison, hosted an exclusive cocktail reception and panel conversation at its New York City flagship to celebrate the launch of its ultra-limited-edition collaboration with renowned contemporary Chinese artist Fang Lijun, titled Yawning Man. The evening brought together an intimate gathering of art collectors, designers and industry tastemakers to explore the intersection of contemporary art, craftsmanship and French crystal.
Notable attendees included Ethan Cohen, Richard Vine, Pierre-Antoine Bollet, David Ebony, Costas Picadas, Jessica Wu, Johnny Li and Alan Way.
Guests enjoyed an engaging panel conversation between Ethan Cohen, founder of Ethan Cohen Gallery and a longtime champion of Fang Lijun's work, and Pierre-Antoine Bollet, General Manager of Lalique North America, moderated by Richard Vine, art critic, contemporary Chinese art expert and former managing editor of Art in America. The discussion offered insights into Fang Lijun's artistic practice and the creative dialogue between the artist and the heritage maison that brought his work to life in crystal.
Adding another layer to the evening, Ethan Cohen Gallery presented a print of a Fang Lijun triptych produced in partnership with Pace, offering guests an opportunity to engage with the artist's wider body of work alongside his collaboration with Lalique. An evening of art, cocktails and conversation within Lalique's historic Upper East Side townhouse, the celebration reinforced Maison d'Artiste as a destination where art, design and craftsmanship converge.
