Simon Kim and Gracious Hospitality Management hosted a captivating grand opening celebration for 550 Madison Avenue, presented by American Express and Resy. The 15,000-square-foot, multi-level dining destination debuts COTE 550, alongside Bar Chimera, a dynamic three-bar concept. Later this year, it will also welcome Sushi Yoshitake, the first New York restaurant from three-Michelin-star chef Masahiro Yoshitake. Designed in collaboration with David Rockwell of Rockwell Group, the space reflects a bold reimagining of one of New York’s most storied addresses.
The evening drew a vibrant mix of leaders across food, fashion, music, and entertainment, including Nas, Busta Rhymes, Eric Nam, Jane Krakowski, FOODGOD, Eric Ripert, Laura Kim, Daniel Boulud, Ezra J. William, Woldy Kusina, and more.
Guests were ushered into the 55th Street courtyard for a New York red-carpet moment, with select VIPs arriving in chauffeured Cadillacs positioned along Madison Avenue. Upon entering, guests walked the step and repeat, were greeted by ice-cold martinis, passed hors d’oeuvres, and welcome toasts from Nas, David Rockwell, and Simon Kim.
Inside, the evening unfolded with a flowing champagne tower from Champagne Telmont, alongside curated pours of The Botanist Gin, Chopin Vodka, Tequila Dobel, and Suntory Whisky, complemented by Petrossian caviar and seamless water service by Evian. Passed bites and a live orchestra set the tone, followed by a choral performance by Sing Harlem. Later, the celebration moved downstairs to COTE 550, with DJ sets from Jean D’Armes and Soo Joo Park, who closed out the evening.
Throughout the night, guests experienced a preview of the destination’s culinary and beverage offerings, including an extensive raw bar with Petrossian caviar bumps, jamon carving station, caviar nuggets, wagyu corndogs, foie gras home run balls, and COTE’s finest cuts right off the grill.
