VHS Ventures partnered with the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism and Assouline to host an intimate, invitation-only evening at Casa Tua in New York, marking the launch of Santo Domingo, the latest title in Assouline’s celebrated Travel Series.
The event brought together leading editors, tastemakers, cultural figures, and creative-industry visionaries to celebrate the rich identity of the Caribbean’s oldest European-founded capital — a city where colonial heritage, contemporary artistry, culinary innovation, coastal beauty, and modern cultural energy intersect.
Through more than 200 evocative photographs by Aline Coquelle, complemented by texts from Rosanna Rivera and David Collado, Santo Domingo captures the Dominican capital’s spirit with remarkable depth: its architectural landmarks, vibrant creative scene, gastronomy and nightlife, historic plazas, and seaside rhythms — a portrait of a city alive with both heritage and imagination.
The evening recognized the book as a luxurious tribute to Dominican culture, highlighting its “alma” and essence on the global stage. VHS Ventures is proud to have collaborated with Assouline and the Ministry of Tourism to bring this story to life, honoring the Dominican Republic’s past, present, and dynamic future.
