Lalique, the iconic crystal house internationally revered as the epitome of French luxury, hosted an inaugural celebration of the mural painted by the legendary New York City street artist Chris “Daze” Ellis at its New York City flagship, Maison d’Artiste.
The event brought together an intimate group of press, cultural figures, art-world personalities and luxury industry professionals to celebrate Daze’s interpretation of iconic Lalique motifs (femme, flora and fauna) within the staircase of the flagship, which is housed in the historic Chopard Mansion on the Upper East Side, which once called names like the Bloomingdale Family, Jean Schlumberger and Diana Ross, its tenants. The night also featured an engaging fireside chat with the artist moderated by seasoned art and design journalist Elizabeth Fazzare, giving guests an inside look of Daze’s roots in the New York City street art movement that started in the 1970s.
Guests included Chris “Daze” Ellis, Jennifer Quail, Erica Necarsulmer, Lila Allen, Jessica Kalweit, Trenton Pardue, James Cregan, Michael Amigron, Cate Andrews, Sofia Popkova, and Aiste Hong.
The evening featured a culinary experience curated by longtime partner and collector Chef Daniel Boulud, with libations including an assortment of Vignobles Silvio Denz wines, The Glenturret spirits and bubbles from Deutz. Oscar Mora worked alongside Daze to create stunning floral arrangements that evoked the aesthetic of the artist's iconic graffiti work, as well as stunning takeaway arrangements with spray paint splatters.
